What can I expect for my intro call?
This is a virtual video call. It's a great way to get to know each other, discuss a vision for your photoshoot, share some example photo ideas and setup a shot list so that we're prepped and ready for photoshoot day. We'll also book in a shoot date and time that makes sense for your vision (and the weather)! Feel free to ask me any questions during the call. I just ask that you have your camera on for the call, so I can get some inspiration for when we meet on photoshoot day.
What can I expect for my outdoor photoshoot?
In each 30 minute session, you can expect a fun, chill and comfortable experience! We dive right into shooting when you arrive on location, then spend time getting some fun poses and candid action shots. The goal is to bring out your natural reactions and emotions. If we need to change locations or outfits, we'll set time aside for that in your shot list during the intro call. We shoot for around 20 minutes total and for approximately 100 raw photos. At the end of the session, we take about 5 minutes to go through the shots and select some that you'd like edited. Bring your friends, family, pets or whoever you like to make the session a really good time!
What are the best locations for an outdoor headshot in Vancouver?
There are so many beautiful places in the Lower Mainland but some of the best places for your photoshoot would be:
Stanley Park/Seawall (Downtown Vancouver): Lots of greenery, water, beach and mountain views. Great for sunlight and shaded photos.
Lonsdale Quay (North Vancouver): The Pier at Lonsdale offers a Vancouver skyline that rivals some of the greatest cities in the world. Ideal for golden hour, sunset and winter photos.
Queen Elizabeth Park (Vancouver): Beautiful views of hills, mountains and the Vancouver skyline. Perfect for wedding or engagement photos, offering an air of refinement and luxury.
Minoru Park (Richmond): A forest, a pond, a chapel, an athletic track, birds and flowers - it's a nature's paradise in the city! Amazing for intimate couple shoots, family photos and action shots for athletes and fitness buffs.
Secret Locations: I also have a ton of secret locations that have a great combination of whatever you're looking for: mountain views, beaches, lakes, vibrant gardens, farms or anything else you can imagine. Share your vision and I'll show you the perfect spot!
What should I look for in a good outdoor photographer?
Every photographer has a portfolio, you want to see the following examples in an outdoor photographer's portfolio:
Lighting: It's super important that their photos use the natural light to their advantage. Look for photos with clear faces, no glare or misplaced reflections, sharp silhouettes and strategic placement of sunlight in the photo. The subjects in the photo shouldn't look blinded or shadowed, but have an authentic expression in their eyes.
Timing: Experienced outdoor photographers know which time of day is optimal to get the right lighting for their clients. We can't control the sun, but we know how to manipulate the camera settings to capture the light as it falls onto you just right.
Weather: Rain or shine, outdoor photos create a vibe that works with your vision. Whether you want carefree and uplifting or moody and powerful, your photographer should have examples that highlight the mood you want to see in your photos.
Secret Locations: Great photographers will hear your vision and have some secret spots that will make your vision come to life. I have a ton of secret locations that work in any weather to give that perfect natural vibe in your photos
What do I get with my photo package?
We believe in giving you photos you love! So we price our packages at a level that's affordable without compromising on quality. With all our packages, you get:
10 Hi-Res Edited Images: To keep pricing simple, all our packages come in groups of 10 edited images. We offer discounts for additional edited photos, in groups of 10. Raws are not normally included in the package price, but we offer them at extra charge.
Professional Retouching: We like to keep the photos as natural as possible but we keep an eye out for stray hairs, crinkles and creases, unexpected blemishes or lighting issues to fix in post-production. But let us know if you want them untouched!
3-Day Delivery: After your photoshoot, we take about 5 minutes to go through the photos with you and pick a few that you might like to have edited. We work with several clients every day so we aim to complete edits within 24 hours, but may need up to 3 days to get your photos to the high level of quality and detail that you would expect from us. We appreciate your patience and recognition that great work takes time!
1 Revision: Once you receive your edited photos, we offer a 15-minute revision session where we go through the edited photos and make any additional changes on the spot. Revisions only apply to the edited photos we shortlisted with you and we do not offer additional photos to be edited as part of the revision session.
Discount Coupon: If you loved working with us and are happy with your edited photos, we offer you a discount coupon for your next photoshoot (which you can use for yourself or gift to a friend), in exchange for an honest Google review.
Can't I just do an AI outdoor photoshoot?
Of course you can, but if you've ever seen one, they're usually not good. Unfortunately AI isn't yet at a level that captures the nuances of human emotion, candidness, or all the little micro-expressions that make you who you are. And it doesn't even get locations right! If you want a photo that's soulless and not exactly true to you, feel free to do an AI photoshoot. But if you want great quality, care, experience and an awesome experience, book a real live outdoor photoshoot!
